‘We Remember This’

‘WE REMEMBER THIS’ VISUAL ART EXHIBIT BY TANYA WISCHERATH
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – June 5 – 26, 2010 – Femina Potens is celebrating Pride Month this June and wants you to join us and partake in the festivities. We have an ample amount of events ready for your enjoyment. Come reflect on life in the Queerborhood as we examine how the story of one’s sexuality plays out as a very subjective, personal and amazing one. We cordially invite you to enjoy the work of local San Francisco artist, Tanya Wischerath, as we present her one woman show, ‘We Remember This’.
Through her oil paintings, woodcuts and drawings, Wischerath creates figurative portraits of her surroundings that feel truly intimate. Her classical style creates small and treasured moments, gestures and expressions that resonate with a sense of memory and affection. Please join us for our Opening Reception Saturday June 5, at 7pm. Enjoys refreshments and libations as we tell the story of these individuals and their fabulous transgressions. Get to meet the powerhouse behind these captured epic moments. Then join us all month long as we present you with an array of exciting workshops, performances and events. Including a community mural installation in our windows by the founder and director of Precita Eyes, Susan Cervantes. Show runs through June 26, 2010.

Tanya Wischerath is an artist with an eye to the zeitgeist and a hand to the classical, seeking to explain what is timeless about that which surrounds her. This is by no means an obvious aim- not one which will be captured at first glance- rather, aesthetic appeal is only an entry point into a much deeper contemplation on that which makes us human. Tanya Wischerath’s work explains that which is inexplicable; satisfying the task of a visual artist on fronts both immediate and resonant.
